One True Thing

.

Mar 5 – 7, 2018

.

In this workshop discussions and practice will point us toward a deep Self- inquiry. What values shape our practice, our teaching, our life? What is the best guide to deepening our sense of profound bodily and emotional ease?

Our goal will be to create and distill into one sentence our own personal dharma or purpose for this life, a statement that can guide our personal practice, our teaching, our family life, and our life in the wider world. We will focus on and feed our yoga practice because it is the foundation to becoming who we already are.

We will begin each day with a practice intention and a short talk and discussion on the theme of One True Thing. Then the first practice session every day will focus on Active poses, like standing poses and backbends, as well as how to develop a series of poses that gradually take you deeper.

The afternoon sessions will focus on Quiet Practice, including Restorative yoga, pranayama and meditation. This afternoon practice will help us learn how to elicit stillness and contentment within us.

Highly recommended reading for the training is:

What We Say Matters: Language as a Form of Spiritual Practice
.
Mar 8 – 9, 2018
 .
Although language is one of the most important tools we have to connect with others, especially as teachers, we are sometimes not aware of the power of the words we choose.
In this workshop, we’ll examine how the words we use with our students and others affect our relationships. How can we constructively ask for what we want? How can be disagree with someone and still stay connected with ourselves and the other? What does it sound like to speak from the concept of Satya, or truth?
We will end each of our days together with a practice of Restorative yoga.
Especially recommend for yoga teachers and serious students.
